This very short film has such an inspiring message for all of us. Over the years I have watched this many times and it always seems to uplift and inspire me. I hope it does the same for you.
Louis Zamperini symbolizes to me what it means to be a true American. The life of Loui is extraordinary. The events of his life are unrivaled. So much so that a book and soon to be movie detail a part of his life. Today on the 4th of July I would like to remember Loui. On July 2, 2014 we lost a true American Hero.
Many years ago while listening to Dr. Stephen Covey I had a life changing experience. In his speech he had all of us vision a time 5 years from today. He told us to visualize going to a funeral. See the church in your mind along with the people gathered there. As you enter the church there is a line of people paying there respects to the person that has passed. As you wait in line you come to the realization it is you in the casket. This is your funeral. On the stand are 3 people who will speak in your behalf. A family member, a co-worker, and a friend. Now go ahead and write the eulogies that will be given. How would you like to be remembered as a family member, co-worker, friend? What would you like them to say about you? Are you living your life today in that way? This is powerful experiment that can change your life. Habit 2 of the 7 habits of highly effective people is, “to begin with the end in mind”. No better way than to visually complete the picture of how we want to be remembered. I would urge each of you to take this experiment seriously and write those eulogies.
