The Daily Echo: President Thomas S. Monson: On The Lord’s Errand… January 4, 2018

January 4, 2018

In my 51 years few have had the impact President Thomas S. Monson has had in my life. I remember as a young missionary in London England. I received a copy of one of his books with his signature in it. I cherished that book from that day forward. He has been an example to me in every possible way. President Monson passed away on January 2, 2018. I think it can be said he literally wore himself out in the service of other’s. His love, compassion, and service was seen his entire life.

On any given day at a handful of nursing homes in Salt Lake City, a buoyant yet distinguished elderly gentleman would be seen talking, laughing and listening to the residents. Despite his heavy load of religious assignments, Thomas S. Monson, the president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, was a self-appointed chaplain for these facilities.
